Onam is a festival filled with joy and happiness. It is also said that the festival is celebrated to welcome our great MAHABALI. We make payasam and sadhya during this time  to celebrate it. Onam is a festival celebrated by all Malayalees. It is said that our great MAHABALI will visit Kerala during this time. Celebration of festival starts from atham day of chingam month of malayalam. This comes only once in a year we make sweet dishes during the time. Onam brings joy and happiness to everyone. During this time we all eat vegetarian food. The festival is the harvest festival of Kerala and is celebrated across India and it is the main festival of malayalis. We wear Kerala saree for women and mudu or dhoti during the time. It is said that Lord Vishnu is the king of the festival. During the time we make poonkalam  to decorate house floors. The time we celebrate rice harvesting. It is said that Kerala is the main state for Onam. Sadhya is the main part of celebrating . There are boat racing during this time also. There are tiger dances which are fun and exiting during Onam. Vallamakli is the most attractive thing. Thiruvathira  kali, is the dance which we perform during the time.
